TMJ

TMJ refers to the temporomandibular joint, the hinge where your jaw meets your skull. This joint is located right in front of each ear. When the joint is damaged or poorly aligned, it can create pain in the joint itself, the face, neck or shoulder. The jaw may click or snap when opened and could even lock in one position.

Long-term TMJ misalignment can result in inflammation and even arthritis. It’s important to treat TMJ problems as soon as they are noticed.

We can help by diagnosing a problem in the TMJ. Some cases can be relieved by providing the patient with a mouthpiece that adjusts the position of the lower jaw. Please talk to us if you notice any symptoms of TMJ problems.
